Film screening of Trashed: No Place for Waste, which examines how humans disposes of their refuse — and how that is contributing to pollution and threatening the food chain. Details: Starts at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Library (210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City).

Friday, June 7th

Wags to Wishes Humane Society Gala: 

Please join us for a formal celebration of the growth and success of the Humane Society of Utah! Key Note Speaker is the President of the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego, Mike Arms. All proceeds will go directly towards providing food, shelter, medication, vaccines, sterilization surgeries, humane education, investigations of animal cruelty and abuse, and the many other great programs that the HSU offers for the animals. Details: Registration begins at 6 p.m. at This is the Place Hertiage Park – Garden Place (261 E. Sunnyside Ave.) Business Formal Attire. Seats are $125.00. Table Sponsorships are $1250.00. Tickets can be purchased here .

5K BloodRun and 1 Mile Walk for the Utah Hemophilia Foundation: The Utah Hemophilia Foundation’s BloodRun at Wheeler Farm (SLC) will be a fun, healthy and friendly event catering to runners, walkers and families who want to get a little exercise and support a great cause. The BloodRun will be held in Salt Lake City. Details: Starts at 9 a.m. at Wheeler Farm (6351 South 900 East). Register here.

Saturday, June 8th

Utah Asian Festival: 8 Asian groups share pageantry of their culture through performance, display and demonstrations. Children will celebrate Year of Snake in activity center. There will also be a special kites exhibit and an Asians Can Dance competition. The festival is free and everyone is welcome. Details: From 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the South Towne Expo Center (9575 S. State Street).
