72 Hour Waiting-Period to Get an Abortion & Zero Wait to Buy a Gun: Welcome to Utah

In case you missed the news, North Dakota’s Governor Jack Dalrymple signed the nation’s most restrictive abortion law yesterday. The “heartbeat restriction law” bans abortions after detection of a fetal heartbeat, which can happen as early as six weeks. The law will go into effect August 1st if it isn’t nullified by the courts before then.

As if that wasn’t enough, a fetal personhood bill will also go on the ballot in 2014 for the State of North Dakota. That’s right, the state is going to vote on whether or not embryos deserve more protection than living, breathing human-beings. Doesn’t Dalrymple sounds like a peach?

I was shaking my head in dismay reading the #NorthDakota Tweets as they rolled in, when it dawned on me: there is a 72 hour waiting period to obtain an abortion in Utah, but there isn’t a waiting period to purchase a firearm! Does that sound right to you?

shakes headI didn’t think so either. If you have a few dollars to spare, head over to Planned Parenthood’s website and throw them a bone for all of their hard work in Utah.
