Suicide Prevention Workshop: QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention (Question, Persuade and Refer) is a workshop that teaches steps to help save a life from suicide. QPR gives ordinary citizens the skills to start a conversation and reduce the stigma that goes along with talking about suicide with family, friends and loved ones. United Nations Association Of Utah Potluck Dinner presented by United Nations Association of Utah: The United Nations Association of Utah will have a free pot-luck dinner, fundraiser, and panel lecture on The United Nations Children Fund. Details: Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the lecture starts at 7 p.m. at the Mount Olympus Presbyterian Church (3280 E. 3900 South, Salt Lake City).

Bastian Foundation Diversity Lecture with Cecilia Menjivar: Bastian Foundation Diversity Lecture Series will host a lecture by Cecilia Menjivar on “Immigrants’ Lives, Immigration Laws and Reflections for Reform.” The presentation will be followed by an audience question-answer session. Healing Hearts Masquerade Ball: Utah Friends of The CJC will hold the Healing Hearts Masquerade Ball, an annual event held to raise awareness of child abuse, and that will benefit the Utah County Children’s Justice Center. “Who is Watching the NSA While it is Watching You?” with U.S. Federal District Court Judge: Dee Benson, will present to students and community members at the University of Utah campus. Details: From 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at the University of Utah in Orson Spenser Hall, Room 255 (260 Central Campus Dr.).

“To Conserve Unimpaired The Evolution of the National Park Idea” with Bob Keiter: Bob Keiter will read from and discuss his new book which argues the goal of the national parks system “to conserve unimpaired” is not as straightforward as it seems. Keiter traces the history of the national park idea from its inception to its uncertain future. Ultimately, Keiter demonstrates that parks cannot be treated as special islands and must be managed as critical cores of a larger ecosystem. Today’s mandate must remain to conserve unimpaired – but Keiter shows how the national park idea can and must go much farther. Details: Fromt 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at The University of Utah S.J. Salt Lake City Critical Mass: Come ride your bike at Salt Lake’s Critical Mass event. No leaders, no rules, no agenda. Details: the last Friday of every month. Meet at the Gallivan center at 6:30 p.m., with the ride starting at 7 p.m.

Moab Gay Adventure Week: Moab Pride will hold its third annual Gay Adventure Week fundraiser, Sept. 27-29, 2013. Moab Pride is the first locale in the country to connect outdoor recreation with a GLBTQ Pride Festival. Details: From Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th.
