Tuesday, November 26th

“Warm Bodies and Souls” coat drive: Bank of Utah plans to warm up Utah families in need this holiday season by sponsoring its annual “Warm Bodies, Warm Souls” coat drive. The public is invited to donate new and gently-used coats, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets and other cold-weather accessories at Bank of Utah’s 18 branches and mortgage loan offices. Wednesday, November  27th

Winter Clothing Drive presented by United Way of Salt Lake: United Way of Salt Lake is helping warm the winter season for kids by collecting donations of warm winter clothes. All donations will be given to students at various community schools and community centers throughout Salt Lake, Summit and Davis counties. All items donated should be new or gently used and should be sized for children and youth ages 6-18. Visit here for information.

Discovery Gateway’s Holiday Food Drive presented by Discovery Gateway: The Children’s Museum of Utah: Celebrate Discovery Gateway: The Children’s Museum of Utah’s 35th anniversary and give to the Utah Food Bank. On Wednesday, November 27th bring in a donation for the Utah Food Bank and receive 1 free admission for every two non-perishable food items donated at Discovery Gateway. Crossroads Urban Center Thanksgiving presented by Crossroads Urban Center: The Crossroads Urban Center will distribute free holiday turkeys to low-income Utahns. Details: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (120 W. 1300 South, Salt Lake City).

Thursday, November 28th

Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner presented by Utah Pride: Utah Pride will provide the turkey, ham or tofurkey and beverages. Bring a potluck dish to share and join us for good food, games, and friends. Vegan & vegetarian items also needed. Hosted by Volunteers of America UTAH, People with AIDS Coalition of Utah and PFLAG. Saturday, November  30th

Utah Cultural Celebration Center Winter Market: The Utah Cultural Celebration Center will present its annual Winter Market that showcases handcrafted arts and ethnic products. Live music dance performances, and the Trees of Diversity exhibit will complement the festive environment. Details: From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center (1355 W. 3100 South, West Valley City).

Movember Fundraising Gala presented by Jed’s Barbershop: Jed’s Barbershop invites all men and women to come show their support for raising awareness of men’s health issues at the Movember Fundraising Gala. The night will include a dapper array of entertainment including music from jazz band Son of Ian, a poetry reading by JoKyR, and stand up comedian Aaron Orlavitz. This Movember event would not be complete without a mustache and beard competition. Dress is semi-formal. Details: Tickets can be purchased at Jed’s Barbershop, 212 S. 700 East, Salt Lake City. Sunday, December 1st

Day With(out) Art presented by Utah Museum of Fine Arts: Day Without Art began on Dec. 1, 1989, the second anniversary of World AIDS Day, as the national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis. To make the public aware that AIDS can touch everyone, and inspire positive action, an estimated 8,000 national and international museums, galleries, art centers, AIDS Service Organizations, libraries, high schools and colleges take part in Day Without Art. The UMFA will participate in the annual observance of Day Without Art and World AIDS Day by covering up a work in the permanent collection entitled Fermator (1997) by Carl Andre. Monday, December 2nd

Light One Candle presented by International Refugee Committee: The International Refugee Committee will sponsor its Light One Candle – adopt a family for the holidays donation drive. Details: Gifts are to be dropped off at the IRC office, 221 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City, Dec. 2-18, 2013.
