(Trans*)forming Salt Lake City; a transgender photo exhibit, is a photo exhibit that includes poster-size images of individuals who identify as transgender or are allies of transgender Latin@s. Rebecca Valverde developed the project from her thesis while in the Master of Arts in Community Leadership (MACL) program at Westminster College. She compiled narratives of Latin@s who identify as transgender, live in Salt Lake City and are immigrants. Valverde worked with Alex Moya from the Utah AIDS Foundation to identify needs and services for the transgender Latin@, immigrant population in Utah. Details: May 1st-31st at the Broadway Theater (111 East 300 South, Salt Lake City).

Friday, May 10th

Heal Utah’s Tenth Annual Spring Breakfast Fundraiser. The multimedia program will include speeches from political activist, author, and one of HEAL’s founders, Chip Ward; HEAL’s Executive Director Christopher Thomas; our Policy Director Matt Pacenza and others. Details: The event is free, but donations are encouraged. From 7-8:30 a.m. in the Rice Eccles Tower at the University of Utah Football Stadium (451 S 1400 E, GATE C, Level 6).  RSVP HERE.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake’s 45th Annual BE Great Gala. Tickets start at $150. Details: Starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek (75 South West Temple).
