Weekly Feminist Happenings March 8th-14th

Thursday, March 10th

Showing Up for Racial Justice: In this first meeting we have an ambitious agenda for an estimated 90 minutes:

  • We will introduce the organizing work and mission of SURJ
  • We will have a short educational component along the lines of “white anti-racism 101”
  • We will break up into working groups to strategize our work going forward and talk about the specific logistics of a public campaign.

Our goal is to make space for anyone who is interested in developing an anti-racist analysis and doing anti-racist action, whether they feel themselves to be experts about anti-racist work, or complete newcomers. As stated on the SURJ national website: “Through community organizing, mobilizing and education, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.” There will be light snacks and water at the meeting. Participants do not need to bring anything except a willingness to engage authentically with others. Details: From 7-9 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Public Library (210 E 400 S, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111).
