Alzheimer’s Association Utah Chapter Advocacy Day: The Alzheimer’s Association Utah Chapter is hosting our annual Advocacy Day for Alzheimer’s awareness. As an advocate for Alzheimer’s, this is a great opportunity to meet your legislators and help raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Details: Starts at 9 a.m. at the Utah State Capitol Building.

Epic Change in the Criminal Justice System: House Bill 348, the Criminal Justice Reinvestment Act, is making tremendous changes in the criminal justice system in Utah to reduce the size and costs of the prison population. Join us for a panel of experts to discuss the effects so far of this landmark legislation:

  • Ron Gordon, Executive Director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice
  • Sheriff James O. Tracy, Immediate Past President of the Utah Sheriffs’ Association
  • Mark Thomas, County Attorney for Uintah County
  • Kent Hart, Executive Director of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
  • Geri Miller-Fox, Division Director of Adult Probation and Parole for the Utah Department of Corrections

Air Pollution & Pregnancy: An educational seminar discussing Utah’s notorious air pollution and how it can present specific challenges to both the fetus and the expectant mother, as well as have lifelong implications for the newborn. Details: From 7-8:30 pm. at the Salt Lake City Library (200 E 400 S 4th Floor, Room 4).

14th Annual Peace on Earth Gala: lease join us for an evening of fun and entertainment as we recognize outstanding work being done in our community about domestic violence and help raise funds for public awareness activities in our community. Tickets will include dinner and improv comedy entertainment. Many fun items will also be up for bid at our silent auction. Please come out to show your support for this important cause- we would love to see you there! Details: From 6-9 p.m. at 50 West Cafe (50 West Broadway). Registration is $40.

Stopping Police Misconduct–A Community Controlled Review Board: Our panel will have community leaders speak on why the current setup has failed to hold the police responsible and why it needs to be replaced with a board that is accountable to the community. Details: From 2-3:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Library.
